For this project, I was tasked with designing a book centered around a topic of my choice. I chose to explore Jazz in America, a genre rich in culture, history, and visual expression.
Before beginning the design phase, I immersed myself in research—reading scholarly articles, essays, and archival materials to build a strong narrative foundation. I carefully curated content from these sources to create a cohesive and informative book that reflects both the depth and the soul of jazz.
Visually, the book draws inspiration from classic jazz album covers, vintage photography, and expressive illustrations. The color palette and graphic elements were pulled directly from these sources, creating a dynamic visual language that feels both nostalgic and contemporary.
The final product is a 58-page fully designed book—my most ambitious and comprehensive project to date. The book is divided into five chapters:
Uniquely American Music
Origins of Jazz
When Jazz Ruled the World
Miles Davis: The Man Who Changed Music
Cool Jazz: A Guide to the History and Sound of Cool Jazz
This project allowed me to blend storytelling, research, and design in a way that celebrates one of America’s most influential art forms.
